Basic of Radiation Protection, How To Achieve ALARA: Working Tips and Guidelines by W.H.O.

The World Health Organization (WHO), in collaboration with the International Commission for Radiologic Education (ICRE) of the International Society of Radiology (ISR), other members of the Global Steering Group for Education and Training in Diagnostic Imaging and individual experts, is creating a series of practical manuals and workbooks for use in diagnostic imaging. The full series will cover medical and diagnostic aspects as well as technical issues, including radiation safety.

The present volume in this series, basics of radiation protection for everyday use. How to achieve ALARA: Working tips and guidelines, provides practical tips and advice on how to keep radiation doses As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) without compromising diagnostic quality. It also complements information offered in the workbook Quality assurance workbook for radiographers & radiological technologists, published by WHO.

This book is written primarily for radiographers and radiological technologists, but is recommended reading for any medical professional working with diagnostic imaging and ionizing radiation.
