This textbook aims to provide its readers with a basic understanding of the underlying principles and treatment modalities of spinal disorders.
The textbook is organised into four sections that correspond to the four stages of the spice care continuum: Basic Science and Spinal Assessment, Non-Invasive Therapeutic Intervention, Spinal Injection and Surgical Management.
The section on Basic Science and Spinal Assessment provides an overview of the anatomy and biomechanics of the spine and it lays a solid foundation for understanding spinal disorders.
It also contains a description and interpretation of commonly used diagnostic modalities.
The Non-Invasive Therapeutic Intervention section emphasizes pharmacological management and physical therapy, and it includes chapters on both the psychosocial effects of spine conditions and alternative medicine treatment options.
The third section on Spinal Injections covers the different types of injections and the various techniques used to administer them along with current evidence on its efficacy.
The last section on Surgical Management gives the readers an overview of the surgical procedures used to treat spinal deformity and degenerative spine conditions. |
